Chaharshanbe Suri

Chaharshange Suri is celebrated on the Wednesday just prior to Nowrooz. It is characterized by setting up communal fires after sunset, over which people jump while singing as a purification ritual. Another practice in Iran, though less common, is akin to trick-or-treating at Halloween, where people go door to door collecting snacks by hitting a metal bowl with a spoon.
